What is thyroid cancer?

Metastatic cancer
How is thyroid cancer treated?
The mainstay of treatment for thyroid cancer is surgery, which is often removal of the whole thyroid gland although in some cases it may be acceptable to remove a lesser portion of the gland. Surgery is generally very well tolerated.
What is my prognosis?
The long term prognosis is generally favourable depending on the type of cancer, and with appropriate treatment and management.
Your specialist will be happy to discuss management and treatment of thyroid cancer with you.
